Barium Feldspar
Barium Feldspar is formed when barium replaces potassium in the mineral structure. Barium feldspars are classified as a different group of feldspars at times, and as a subgroup of alkali feldspars at others. The mineral is discovered in contact with metamorphic rocks rich in barium. It has a white, yellow, or transparent monoclinic crystal structure. In its purest form, it is translucent. As a ceramic material, synthetic barium aluminosilicate is used in dental fillings and other purposes.
